How Immergas revolutionized logistics management with Intellimag

Founded in 1964 in Brescello, Immergas is now one of the leaders in the home climate sector, with over 9 million boilers installed. Its evolution, which began with the production of the first gas stove, has led it to design and develop integrated systems that combine high-efficiency boilers, heat pumps, and solutions for the production of domestic hot water and air conditioning, expanding since 2010 its commitment to photovoltaics through the Immerenergy brand. With over 620 employees, a turnover of 290 million euros in 2023, and a covered production area of 60,000 sqm at the main plant in Lentigione di Brescello (RE), thanks to Immerfin – the holding company that controls Immergas – the group operates through a widespread commercial network in 50 countries, supported by 13 commercial subsidiaries and 4 production plants located on three continents.

In an increasingly competitive production environment, the company has chosen to focus on technological innovation and environmental sustainability as strategic levers, as demonstrated by the implementation in 2025 of the new production line for Magis M Top heat pumps. Furthermore, the company is focusing on the digitalization of processes as a strategic lever to support growth and achieve new standards of operational, production, and logistics efficiency.

The challenge: an ambitious plan for logistics reorganization
In recent years, the growth of the organization, the expansion of production activities, and the introduction of increasingly advanced technologies have highlighted the need to thoroughly review operational and logistics management. The WMS system in use, now outdated, was no longer able to support the evolution of flows or respond to the new complexities introduced by the spread of automated warehouses and the growing need for integration between company systems. It became increasingly important to have a solution capable of efficiently managing work-in-progress (WIP) materials, coordinating transfers between different plants, and communicating in real time with the company’s MES and ERP systems.

The response: Intellimag at the center of the transformation
Immergas thus outlined a digital transformation plan aimed at efficiency, sustainability, maintaining quality standards, and making the supply to production lines smoother and more traceable. At the heart of this plan is the Intellimag WMS, identified as the most suitable solution to support the company’s organizational and technological evolution. Among the most relevant operational objectives are:

  • The introduction of PULL supply logic
  • The reduction of stock along the assembly lines
  • The reduction of order fulfillment times
  • The elimination of paper support in daily operations
  • The coordination of transfers between different plants

The project involved the progressive introduction of the new WMS in five plants, involving both the Italian sites and the foreign site in Slovakia. A particularly strategic aspect of the project was the high level of integration between Intellimag and the existing company information systems.
Intellimag is interfaced with the ERP system for administrative and master data management, with the MES system for real-time production control, and with the quality system. It also communicates with automated and vertical warehouses, ensuring a continuous and synchronized flow of movements.
This integrated architecture has made it possible to activate effective PULL logic, capable of feeding the assembly lines based on actual needs. The result is a more efficient logistics system capable of reducing waste by optimizing time, resources, and traceability.

From idea to operation:
the benefits obtained The introduction of Intellimag has generated concrete benefits throughout the entire logistics chain, significantly improving accuracy, traceability, and operational reliability.

The project numbers speak clearly:

  • 5 plants involved and implemented, with the final go-live expected by the end of 2025;
  • Over 200 active users who use Intellimag daily;
  • Full integration with automated warehouses, which has made it possible to maximize accuracy in movements, speed up picking times, and optimize space usage;
  • Direct connection to the MES, for a smooth supply chain aligned with production.

With the introduction of Intellimag, warehouse management is not only efficient but finally up to the challenges of the present and ready for those of the future.
